Technical Vegas
Even though my school plans are at a standstill until I receive a piece of paper in the mail, the Vegas plans are starting to fall together.
I’ll fly out right after work on Sunday morning, spend the day settleing into the groove and sleeping, and then the fun begins.
Expected shows: La Reve since it’s in the round, and George Wallace for teh funny. And maybe Celiene again if there’s a Sunday show? I’ve got a shot at good tix… How gay would that be?

Meanwhile, I need to stop myself from buying a laptop just yet. I’ll do it over the next month as I get closer to returning to the halls of Upper Education, but for the sake of my sanity I need to make real decisions of what I want in my setup. Bigger Hard Drive? Sure. Extra memory? Dunno. Gaming Video Card? Hells no, but I’d like to have an option of upgrading later.
I have no fears digging into my desktops, but I’ve never tried to install things in a laptop. I’m sure it’s possible, but it’s a whole new experience. It’s all about future flexability.
I want to be able to turn my laptop into a gaming rig, but I don’t want it to start that way. Get it? This is for e-mail and calendar and study papers and the other sundry elements of the educational process, and not so I can play Guild Wars over lunch. In a year or so, my desktop will start to get really creaky, so would my laptop take over the deskspace?
That’s too far down the line.
In short: storage = good, whiz-bang graphics = bad. Find the $$$ balance.
I’ll make real decisions next week.
