Old 8GB iPhone = $399 with $20/month for 2 years
New 8B iPhone = $199 with $30/month for 2 years
399 + 20 * 24 = $879
199 + 30 * 24 = $919
So you end up paying $40 extra over the span of the contact for improved speed/features.
Seems reasonable.
